SUNSCREEN BILL SIGNING
You may not be aware, HIROC was instrumental in making this bill happen! Mahalo to Governor Ige for signing the Hawai’i sunscreen legislation banning the sale of sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate in 2021. Until then, we have lots of educational work to do!
Hawaii Governor Ige to Sign SB2571 Related to Sunscreens
Governor Ige will be signing SB2571 to ban sunscreens containing oxybenzone and octinoxate proven to be toxic to corals. This was one of the first bills HIROC as a group worked on, and we are very proud of its success. The bill signing ceremony will occur on July 3rd at Hanauma Bay (exact time to be announced). Mahalo to everyone who helped make this happen.
